Just a quicky tonight. Here are the papers I made for KimB's color challenge at DSO (click here to download). It is 15 papers thought I might actually get around to making some elements but the 'mojo' for that is LONG gone I think.

Lots going on around here, just still trying to get my thoughts all gathered up. Our oldest son announced Friday night, he and his family are thinking seriously about moving to Tulsa OK, of course that means we would move also. Cannot live without the kids you know... Not a real good time to be considering a move like that, but if they move so will we, it would just take us longer since we have our house to sell among other things. I love the Tulsa area so moving there isn't a problem for me, since our other son already lives up there, just such a pain to have to get ready for that kind of move. The fact that hubby and I both are such pack rats, there will have to be LOTS of sorting and filling trash bags, trips to the recycle bin and to make donations at the Salvation Army, but it can be done if we work on it everyday. Heck it is something we should be doing anyway...LOL

BOO's Back and hosting the SAS-y Color Challenge

Well well, we thought she was gone for good this time, but alas she swam upstream through all the PC problems and made her way back to the Digi-Scrapping World and we are certainly glad about that. She came back with a bang and I'll show you more about that later plus will also show it on the Boo's Blossoms Blog which I promise to UPDATE today.

There are some really outstanding layouts and Free kits there.

On the Homefront, hubby is almost over whatever kind of flu he had, but we are CERTAIN it wasn't the Swine Flu, had it before that Hoop-La started and he sure hasn't been to Mexico. We had a flood here in Alvin, on the 18th of April, I am not sure how many homes were flooded but there sure are many piles of wet carpet out for the trash pickup. Thankfully all of my family stayed HIG and DRY unless you needed to go to the store then you had to dodge high water all that Saturday. It certainly has been a strange Spring this year, first there was NO RAIN and then in a week or so we got close to 12 inches. Many areas of Houston got all theirs in one night, so it is now Mosquito time. At least up until the past couple of days it has been cool, but now I guess humidity and heat is with us until at least the end of September, BUT, I wouldn't trade the Upper Texas Gulf Coast for any other place in the world.

I was going through my CT for Scrapbrat Designs folder and found I had missed one of her kits, so off I went to make some layouts with it. I had fun doing the Style Challenge at GDS, and I had found a great template by Joni Gray and she was nice enough to let me use it to make a Freebie QP with Scrapbrat Designs Kit "TOUCH OF SUMMER". You can find the kit at SAS , BTST , DigiDesignsresort and at Inspiration Lane . It is on SALE at all the stores.

Plug for a new kit and a couple of freebies

You know I THINK it is about time I re-do my blog, but I am so lazy and would much rather make layouts instead. SO I guess I'll put it on my to-do list.

My Good Friend Trudie AKA Scrapbrat Designs has been really busy lately. She had joined some more stores. She is now in Studio Style Designs, Been There Scrapped That (waving at my friends Colie and Liz) and DigiDesignResort and she has this beautiful kit on sale at each of them. The kit is called 'TIME FOR TEA' and is very pretty with soft colors and pretty elements. I would think it would be perfect for Mother's Day layouts.

So this bring me to the goodies. I made a layout that I thought turned out very nice (used one of Andrea Gold's CU Templates) and thought you might enjoy having it to play with yourselves. Just click on the preview to download.

I am so SORRY about the zip file for ADSD

SECOND TRY:

I had fooled with the compression setting on my Winzip program and it wouldn't open any files I created with those setting on older versions. I have reuploaded it using the correct setting (you can bet I'll never change them again...LOL) and have changed the links here on the blog. I hope you all will try it again, as these are my most favorite papers I have even made.

Yesterday I was so busy, I didn't even have time to check anything but this morning I found out my zip file for my part of the ADSD SPRING THINGS Blog Train was corrupt. I have redone it and it works this time. I am so sorry to all that downloaded it, it was weird that it didn't unzip for ANY of us, but it is fixed now. When I tried the orginal one I had made it wouldn't even unzip, before it went to 4shared, so it was a Lois GOOF not a problem with 4shared...:)

March Madness and a Freebie

Here it is March with all the great things that are going on, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, different smaller events in other towns to attend, but what do I do? I sit home and play on the computer...LOL

GD Brianna was in a One Act Play UIL (Universal Interscholastic League) Contest and her group won First Place for a play named 'Wiley and the Hairy Man' by Susan Zedar. The leading man/boy was won by Michael from her group and the All-star cast was alos won by her group and that included Brianna. SO I would say that they had a very great day for a bunch of 8th graders from Fairview Junior High, one of 5 in AISD Alvin Texas.

Plans are going forward for my youngest son's wedding. Liz has picked her colors and I actually have already bought my dress for it. It isn't until October but I didn't want to wait until the last moment. I found one the right color at a fantastic price, so jumped right on it, but now I have to make up my mind to buy new shoes, something besides tennies, and I hate shoe shopping. Oh well this is a long awaited event so I guess I had better start looking since it takes me forever to find a pair that fit right, have the right heel height and are right for the dress.

Hubby's make-over is going great. He had his left eye fixed in late January and now he is getting all his skin cancers removed. Now if only that perfect job would appear all would be good with him.

Mallory is growing so fast, seems like he will be really keeping us hopping when Spring finally gets here. He so loves to explore the back yard, but that means one of us has to be with him every minute, due to his BAD HABIT of tasting of everything and I do mean everything.

DSO Color Challenge FREEBIE

It has been awhile since I posted but part of that is this Roller-Coaster weather we have been having, it sure makes us old folks feel rather poorly....LOL

Now I do not cook or anything that much fun, but since my Son does work with on of the teams, I will have the kids more than usual and that makes my brain very forgetful.

Showing of my Friend's beautiful kit and a freebie

I do not know If I mentioned it or not, but I am on the Creative Team of Scrapbrat Designs. She makes very pretty what I call Girly Kits. Since I have one of each, in my Grandkids that is ok.

You can find this and other kits at Color Line Design or at DigiDesign Resort, I think you will find she does really pretty work.

Here is a layout I did using this kit, and it shows with just a little work you can make a layout that is not Valentines...LOL

Update on My Busy Life and a FREEBIE

Well it was a heck of a week. First a new President, then 2 Great Nephews born 12 hours apart. Youngest son got himself engaged to a Beautiful Lady on Thursday and then on Friday, Hubby had Catarac surgery, he is doing great and is loving being able to see again. And my family wonders why I prefer my computer to real life...LOL

Here is a layout I made using Just 4 Fun by Cindy Ritter and a very pretty template by Chris Greiser. It is called She said YES!!!! They both look so happy adn I am on cloud ( myself. She is perfect for him and the whole family is crazy about her. I also made a second layout with the same kit and a template by ChrissyW. It is just called The Ring.

Now on to the FREEBIE. It is a small kit (12 papers and 3 elements) I made for KimB's color challenge at DSO. I really loved the colors and plan to download all of the kits that others made, since there are so many of them and they are so beautiful.

Long time no SEE!!! so here is a freebie

I must be the World's worst blogger, cannot believe it has been this long since I posted. I guess I just haven't gotten the Blog Habit down right yet, so I thought I would share a freebie I made for a non-existent Color Challenge, well it really did exist but it was for Jan 08 not Jan 09. It was the one at Stone Accents Studio, that is normally hosted by Boo of Booland Designs, but due to PC problems she hasn't posted the Jan 09 one yet.

After I had gotten it all made, packaged up and ready to post I realized it was the wrong one. I thought today I would share the one I made for the 08 challenge and then (for the only in my mind) Jan 09. I cannot believe how much I have learned over the past year. Freebie and news

I'll start with the news, ok? Boo has her very own STORE it is called what else but BoolandDesigns. There are still a few bugs lurking around but as soon as she finds about one she makes sure to swat it in a hurry.

Wondering what this is all about? Well as we all know Boo loves to share goodies with us and for the Grand-Opening of the new store, she created a wonderful kit, Apple Orchard, as a Download a Day, and you can find it under Daily Downloads in teh new store.

I finally got a few minutes to make my entry into the SAS Oct color challenge. I even tried my hand at making a few elements.

After Hurricane Ike and a Freebie

The storm as come and gone, but he left lots of hard work behind. My town, Alvin, Texas, looks like one of those SMART BOMBS went off, but instead of hurting people, it hurt the trees. We used to have huge old trees all over town, but now they are on their way to becoming mulch for our flower beds. better than what some other nearby communities are doing, they are burning the tree waste.

We were lucky only lost 3 trees, 1 at my Son's home and 2 at one of the rent houses. None of them did serious damage to the houses, so that is wonderful for us. A little later I'll try to share some of the photos I took of Alvin and the surrounding area. DIdn't take near as many as I usually would have taken, but just to be truthfull, I didn't have the patients to do it, nor the desire. I guess the stress of no power for 2 long weeks started soon after Ike passed past us.

Yesterday I thought I would try my hand at making a paper pack for the August SAS-Y Color Challenge and found out about half-way through, my computer had lost 1/2 of it's memory. So What should have taken an hour to do, took half a day but here it is, an after storm gift for you.

Tomorrow is the last day of the month and we are busy as beavers, trying to restock the 'fridge and get all the FEMA papers work filled out. Then on Wednesday there will be BIG REVEAL over at the Boo's Blossoms Blog and at BooLandDesigns blog so make sure you do not miss it. I promise you will love the surprise.

Couple of things

As most everyone knows Stone Accents Studio is having their 1st Birthday Party and it is a great one with lots of special things going on. First off there are lots of new challenges just for the birthday. Then there is the new designer's contest going with some really lovely kits being created with themes in mind.

Also there is a SAS-Y Member Mega Kit being created mainly by the members, not just the designers are playing with this one. I am now on the Creative Team for Lara's Digi World she also sells at SAS and at MyScrapShop, so I would like to show you one of her kits and a layout I made using it. It is called 'Backyard Playground' and can be found at either store. A very cute Freebie can also be found in the stores

Here is a layout I made using that kit and for the Journaling Challenge at ColorLineDesigns . I love to do challenges using the kits provided by the designers I work with gives them more layouts and more cyber advertising...LOL That cute, curly-haired kid is Mallory, my almost 2 year old grandson.

Next time I HOPE to have more news on the big secret Boo has going on but if not I'll at least tell you about the other Creative teams I am on. IF I ever get it figured out how to add blinkies I will do that, because I am humbled that others think my work is good enough for them to use it to show off their kits.

New Gift for you

I so much enjoyed making the papers for the Cornucopia of Colors I thought I might try it again for the SAS Sept Color Challenge hosted by none other than my Friend and Booslady Boo Silva of BoolandDesigns. It is just 12 papers done in the colors that Boo choose this month.

It has been an interesting time for my family, we keep watching and waiting for the storms to arrive, but thankful they have missed us so far. Living halfway between Houston and Galveston has it's pluses for sure, but come Hurricane Season we all cringe. I know that sometime in the future it will be our time again, since the last one was in 1983 and was a cat3, which did lots of damage around where I live but I do not think it was as bad as some of the Tropical storms we have had since, damage wise that is. Since we are so flat the area tends to flood when we get a ton of rain, and usually it is either feast or famine with rain, so we keep the boots handy so IF we need to wade water at least our feet will be dry.LOL

One day while searching, as I do everyday, for Free templates and other digi-scrapping thing, I saw an ad on one of the blogs for a new company called ArtsCow that makes photo books and photo prints (no 12x12s at this time but lots of other sizes). As a signup bonus you get 400 4x6 photo prints and another un-named gift from them. I thought why not give them a try, even if they are in China. Well I did and as very pleased with the book I ordered, quality, speed and even the price was very nice. Instead of the usual 8x8 book with 20 pages they offer a 30 page book and additional pages are very reasonable. Shipping was $11.99 but they have lowered that to $7.99 so it also compares with the other companies. SO I thought I would share the link with all of you.

I was very surprised at the speed with which I got my book, knowing how busy they are being new and having so many offers going on. I ordered the book on July 21 and got it on July 31, so coming from China that seemed really good service. I also ordered a few 4x6 prints to compare and those were also very bit as good as I can get locally or at other online stores. Next I think I'll try the 5x7s since I have lots of frames those will fit perfectly.

They have a Community Forum where you can see what people have had printed with them. That way you can see I am not just Whistling Dixie at you about the quality. Almost everyone is very pleased with their books, and most errors were made by the designer not the company. I know it was my fault some of the pages were too big for the page causing me to lose a little of the journaling, but I have done the same thing with the other company I used before.

Sure wish I had scanned my book and it's cover so you all could see it, but I didn't.

From the same group that gave you Backyard Playground and Popsicle Paradise (look around on the different blogs, I think there are still active links to those kits also), we return to offer you our latest collaboration kit, ZOO SPIRIT. Now I do not know about you but I see a theme running through our group thinking. SUMMER with all the neat things we see and do.

I am not a designer, rarely can I do much except make pages with the hard work done by others, and that is what I have done this time. I made 8 Brag Book pages and a QP using parts from this HUGE kit. Each page is identified with the designers name in the filename and as you can see also on the preview. Little Boys and the Outdoors

My Grandson, Mallory, loves to be outside, big problem there is he has to taste of everything he finds. Almost every photo I have of him he has something in his hand on the way to his mouth, or it is already there...LOL Also the mosquitoes, that we are so famous for, think he is the sweetest dessert in town, regardless of which repellent I use, so outside time is very limited. When he is outside I try to grab as many photos as possible to scrap.

Now that brings me to another reason for this post. As you know I have been trying to make Freebies using that great Backyard Playground by the designers at ADSD and today I have a QP for you all. I made a layout featuring Mallory and thought why not also make it a QP for you all.

July and it is HOT plus a Freebie

Well the Mid-summer heat is with us, and of course down here on the Gulf Coast we have to worry about Hurricanes. Thankfully they are rare, but right now Hurricane Dolly is giving us a much needed cool day with a little rain thrown in. It is my hope that the folks that are in the 'Eye of Dolly' are not in any serious danger. I am sure the farmers in the Texas Valley are looking forward to the rain, but not the winds. There are so many areas in the state that have had little or no rain all year, that this will be a God Send for them.

In June I went to Portland Oregon to meet up with some long time friends, and did we ever have a great time. As usual I packed enough clothes for a month, but with the weather differences I had no idea what I would need. First day we needed a jacket, the next was very balmy, Saturday was downright HOT. Then on Sunday, one of the girls and I drove down to see the Coast, and no one thought to tell us it would be COLD down there and we almost froze our rears off, but it was well worth the cold and the long drive. I got some wonderful photos and had a blast playing catch-up with old friends, so hot or cold, it was well worth the money and time.

I was so bored yesterday, I had to find something to fill the day and I thought why not make a freebie. I belong to a group of Aspiring Designers (you can find out more about them HERE )and each month they put together a wonderful collab kit. Let me tell you it is HUGE and though there is always a theme, the kit is very diverse. July's kit was called Backyard Playground and it has so many elements and papers you could scrap the whole summer just using that kit. Anyway, before I get too carried away talking about the kit, let me say I used items from that kit to make 6 Bragbook Pages and that is my freebie for today. There are lots of beautiful BB pages out there but most are a little too 'girly' for those rough and tumble Boys in our lives, so that is the direction I took. Cannot beleive it is already April

This month is going to be busy I can tell. The 19th is Brianna's Birthday and she will be 13, seems like only yesterday she was 3. She stay very busy and of course that means we stay busy, going to her sporting events and playing taxi driver.. I thought when your kids got grown, you were through with all those fun things, but I guess I was wrong.

Things are humming over at the Boo's Blossoms Blog . Our first competition starts today, PLUS BooLandDesigns has created some wonderful new kits. She even created one for each of the 15 Creative Team Members, using our favorite colors. She has several new kits and since I haven't gotten them yet, I cannot even show you the previews but will get thos doen soon.

I also am on the Creative Team for Tina Williams Designs, and she has a beautiful new kit in her Faith Based Series and it is GRACE. It is the 14th kit in that series. You can find the entire series here at her Store .

Most of the heritage pages I have done have been with Tina's kits, I find them to work wonderfully with the photos I wanted to scrap. I actually just finished 2 double page LOs and one single page with this kit. I had scanned a group of old pictures and in it was some of my BirthMother, also named Lois. I have been sooooooo Busy!

We are having a little competition over at Boo's Blossoms Blog and have some very nice gifts for those that enter. It starts on April 1st and you can get all the details from the blog.

I know that you will enjoy playing with us. So I have been busy helping get it all set up for you all and the requirements will be posted on the Boo's Blossoms Blog late Mondy evening or early Tuesday Morning.

The other reason I have been busy is, I helped with a wedding. My oldest son performs wedding ceremonies for friends and family, and today he had one to do. Well since it was late in the afternoon and his wife had to go to work, that left MaMaw with the 'watching the BOY' duties...LOL Not that I mind that at all, but would have liked to have had less watching and more photographing, but that is the way it is when you have a 16 month old exploreer in the family. He is one of those children that has to taste everything from rocks he finds, to the cat if it will be still long enough, so you have to watch him every second. I need to make a recording that says "NOT IN YOUR MOUTH" and just play it over and over, since that is what I have to say all the time. I didn't even get any photos of the baby just the Wedding party and I'll share them after I get them all downloaded and such.

I have done some scrapping though, challenges and pages for the wonderful folks I CT for, but no designing at all, just not enough hours in the day. I have taken a little time out to take a few pictures of the local flowers and now that my Wisteria is loaded with blooms, I have to remember tomorrow is it isn't raining to snap a few of it and the other flowers that have blessed with with a feeling of Spring. Oh that along with all the Birds in the yard, racing to find things to add to their nests, makes one know SPRING has SPRUNG on the Upper Texas Gulf Coast.

OH!! OH!! What a beatiful New Kit from BOO!!!!

This morning we got the first real look at Boo's New kit, Spring Passion and boy it is WONDERFUL. Has both of my fav colors Teal and Mauve (well maybe not a true Mauve but really close). Of course Boo has something extra for those of you that played the 'Name the Kit' game, but didn't get chosen. So IF you run right over to her BLOG or later today to the Blossoms Blog you will find a wonderful sampler, to give you a taste for more.

We are planning on another challenge soon using this sampler, I think, or a new one if Boo thinks we need it, but details are still coming in but you will need to check Boos Blossoms Blog . I do know there is going to be change in who you submit the layouts to, and who will be sending out the participation gifts, helps keep down the confusion a little.

Hump Day and Beautiful Weather

Finally 2 pretty days in a row, YEA!!!!! OK, it is a little cooler than I like but still the sky is blue and the wind isn't blowing, so it is wonderful.

Our Boo has created another beautiful kit, and it is called 'Everything You Are' and can be found at SAS, CLD and at DID. It is full of beautiful papers and some very pretty elements. I loved the shades of gray she used and the brighter pinks.

Of course I had to make a few layouts to see what it would do. The first one 'Our Brianna' is made using only papers (and a very nice Template from Colie's Corner and Eye Candy 4000 Glass)

This one 'Wedding Day' I did just the opposite, 1 paper and LOTS of pretties to make the LO shine. The photo was 'borrowed' from the web since I didn't have one scanned of an old wedding. A little side note, the Bride wore Black, since in that timeframe, it was only the wealthy that could afford to have a white dress. You only made things you could use again, and white wasn't very useful as a day to day dress.

Well I am off to do the dreaded laundry, since it is white stuff I sure hope the water stays clear. Way too often it gets rusty before the load is finished and I then have to try to get out the stains. YUK

Why do people Pirate?????

I have been making the rounds of some of my FAV blogs, Bunny Cates, KimB, Val Ostrom and a few others, and all I keep seeing is just how much hurt people pack on to others. I cannot believe that people do the following

1) Complain about the freebies, ok so it might not be perfect but the price was, FREE. Most of us enjoy the freebies and really want them so stop being so negative.

2) Steal from the designers. The designers do this for 2 reasons, extra money and for the love of creating, so why take either of those things away form them. Would you go into Wal-Mart and steal things? Well you are doing the same thing when you download something that someone else has put out there, someone that is NOT the designer.

3) Upload things from stores so anyone can download them, of course they must think since I paid for it I can do whatever I want with it. These kits are NOT like used cars you cannot re-sell them or give them away. Read the TOUS!!!!!

4) Talk S**T in the comments section and then not leave their names, only cowards do that. Don't tell me you cannot leave a name, get a gmail account and you will have a name. Google allows that and I have not seen any blog that accepts comments that doesn't allow you to put your name in the comment section, so be a stand up person and LEAVE YOUR NAME!

What is wrong with people? For the most part everyone is nice but the few 'rotten apples' sure are making it hard on those that really need the freebies, folks on fixed incomes do really need them, so why are there those that want to take away their source of supplies? I got started scapping using freebies from people like Kristine, Kimb, Bunny, Pillowgirl, BooLandDesigns, TinaWilliamsDesigns and from the different shops. That is how many of us got our first supplies for this wonderful passtime, and I still support those ladies in their hosted challenges, buying their kits etc.

I've been Scraplifted!!!! YEA!!!!!

Over at Boo's Blossoms blog, along with a fantastic free scrapping kit, we have a contest of a sort going on, if you scraplift one of the layouts done by the Blossoms you could receive something nice from Boo and her Blossoms.

WELLLLL I was scraplifted and I wanted to share these beautiful layouts with all of you. KrisG created this one, using my lo called Buchart Gardens

And DotComma did this one in likeness to my layout called SPRING

I must say both ladies did an outstanding job, both using the wonderful freebie kit Boo provided and my layouts. I am so happy to be able to share their work with you.

Speaking of Boo, well, I know the 100 Days of Goodies is still going hot and heavy on her blog. So you all need to run over there to see what nice things she has for you today. BooLandDesigns is such a wonderful place to visit, I really love the song she has playing (and for me to say I like the music on a blog is really something). It makes you want to grab a cup of coffee, tea or whatever and stay awhile.

Not too much going on here in my corner of the world, just making a few layouts for a few challenges and some to highlight the work of the fine designers I CT for. Tina Williams has a wonderful series going right now, it is called FaithBased and has great items for all those heritage pages you have been wanting to do. There are 12 kits in the series, with no end in sight.

Boo has some new kits in the works and I have seen one of them and let me tell you all, you are going to love it, plus there should be more of the Birthstone kits out pretty soon, so be sure to check her stores often to see what she has new. She sells at StoneAccentsStudio , DoITDigi and at ColorLineDesigns .

Couple of things today and a freebie

My Friend Boo has a wonderful new kit in the store at Stone Accent Designs . It is dedicated to her Grandad and to honor what would have been his 100th birthday today. The name of the kit is GRANDAD. Nice purples and blues, with lots of very unusual papers. Oh and if you run over to her Blog you will find a very nice surprise. Boo is giving a gift a day for 100 days and that is not somethingyou find everyday.

She will also be giving this wonderful sampler, the links were not up earlier today but they are COMING soon!

As one of the Bloosoms, I had the chance to play with the kit and to make a couple of layouts using it. Thought I would show you what I did with the kit.

Amy AKA FamilyHistoryScrapper, one of my Fellow Boo's Blossoms used my Color Line Designs color challenge kit for a very pretty layout. I just loved how she turned one of the papers into frames for her photos and that cluster is beautiful. She made the LO for another of the challenges there, so we both won on that one...LOL

Middle of the week already and a freebie

Man, this week is whizzing by. Hubby had to go to his heart DR yesterday for a stress test, but the news was WONDERFUL, no new heart damage from the heart attack he had in late November. Then the kids came for dinner last night, that is always fun.

I have been working on some bragbook pages for Brianna of her friends, using pictures she has taken at school. Now I usually scrap at 12x12 so making myself work with 6X4 has been a trip for me. I think she will like the kits I have chosen to use and I will post some of them as I get them finished. I will even share a few of them in .png format since I will be using my own freebie kits. That sure sounds odd, my own kits...LOL

Mentioning freebies I have another kit for you today. This one I did for KimB's Color challenge at DSO. After I had the preview made I realized I had told a fib on it, there are 14 papers not 12, so I guess you could call it a bonus...LOL

Well I must be off to finish some layouts for the kits I have for my CT duties. They have some really nice new kits over at Studio Style Designs and so does Tina Williams Designs. Tina has a wonderful series of kits called Faith Based Series and I think she is up to 11 or 12 of them. I have found them to work well for Heritage layouts. Boo has been keeping us busy with her surprise, you just never know what that girl will be haing us do next...LOL I can tell you this though on the 11th she will be showing it to you on her blog and maybe even on the Boo's Blossoms Blog .

Monday, Monday and a couple of freebies

Well what a week this past week was. Do not know if it made the news in your part of the world, but it sure did here. All about how really totally stupid and mean people can be. I am talking about a young man (21 years old) and what he did to his 3 month old son.

On Tuesday Morning a couple walking in Galveston, found the body of a baby and it's carrier off the side of the road. The baby had died of blunt force trauma, but here is where it gets really morbid. The father of the child had stomped on the baby's head until he felt the skull crush and then like trash he threw it out on the the side of the road. Now it gets even more bizzare, he turned himself into the Philadelphia, PA police dept on Friday, saying he had done something bad in Texas. The police here had been looking for him locally since he only had 1/2 tank of gas and ten dollars.

How did he make it to PA, you might ask, well, this bad person, had stopped at churches and with a sad story had gotten them to give him money to travel on. How he could have the nerve to ask for help at churches after what he had done, is beyond me, but he did. It will now make it harder for those that really do need help to get it since he played the good people for suckers.

This is the second child that has been found thrown away in Galveston in the past few months. Neither one was from Galveston, the first was from Ohio via Houston and was named by the Galveston PD "Baby Grace". Her mother and step-father had killed her, placed her in a plastic storage box, and tossed her into the Bay. Some fishermen found the box and opened it and for the next month the PD tried hard to find who she was. Her Grandmother in Ohio saw the sketch and called the Galveston PD and the rest is history.

Soapbox time:::: Why if these people do not want these children, do they not give them away? Here in Texas, and I think most states, if you for wahever reason do not want your children, you can take them to the Police or Fire Station, or the local hospital and turn them over without any kind of legal action being taken against them. I know a couple that would have loved to have had either child, could have afforded to raise them right and would have been wonderful parents. They cannot adopt here in the States due to their age and her health, not anything terminal, just has to use a wheelchair to get around, but is classed as handicapped, so not eligable to adopt.

OK enough depressing things, so on to other stuff......

I saw we had MANY comments and the LOs have started coming in, can hardly wait to see them posted. There will always be something going on there, challenges and some freebies from time to time. The first on was for the Color Challenge that Boo is hosting again this month at Stone Accents Studio where she also sells her beautiful kits (and she has a big surprise coming on the 11th of this month). New Month and a GREAT New Blog

Febuary has come in with a beautiful, sunny day here in Alvin, Texas. 'Bout dang time we see some sun...LOL

Now about the GREAT New Blog, it is Boo's Blossoms and we, the CTs and Boo, the designer, have some really great things for you to see, download and do. First off it is the brain-child of Boo of BooLandDesigns (be sure to check her blog out too, she always has some goodies to share).

Where has January gone????

I was reading on someone's blog today about how as we get older time really flies and all I can say about that is AIN'T IT THE TRUTH!!!!!!

Ok, on to business. The designers over at Studio Style Designs have made a superduper Mega Kit for Feburary and it is on sale right now until MIDNIGHT tonight (Jan 30th) for 50% off and let me tell you it is HUGE. Oh would you like to see it? That can be arranged just look below

I am one of the many Creative Team members there and of course I got to play with it some before it was realeased. Made a few layouts and some surprises to be announced at a later date.

Yukky Weather, but then it is January in Texas

My least favorite month of the year is January, trees are bare, grass is brown (or in the case when my son lives in Oklahoma, blonde), skys look like they were painted with lead colored paint, just a very depressing time of the year. Of course, that will soon change, and before we know it it will be June and then we will be griping about the heat.

The birds are already looking for their spring and summer dwellings, so the birdhouses are getting a real checking out. Early Sunday morning, though it was cold, the birds were fighting over which house is the best, or do the old tenants get to have it again this year. It is funny, since I am sure that some of the argueing was being done by the babies from last year, trying to take over the house that was their home. I love it when all the houses are full, getting to watch the bbies learn to fly is such a joy to behold. Ihave some new houses to put up, if it ever gets dry enough to get out into the yard. One of them fits on my window, so we can watch the progress of the nest up close and personal.

On to other things. Today I made another kit for a color challenge. This one is for Color Line Designs , instead of doing a layout I asked for and received permission to make and share a kit using their color palette. The kit has 16 papers and 16 elements. I created this little kit using items from the following people or stores, MooTwoDesigns (paper overlays), Tina Williams (paper overlay), ScrappingmyBunsoff (paper overlays), and The Ephemeral Victorian (lace, frames, flowers and ribbons). All products were either bought by me or were freely given by the designer.

New Goodies from BooLand Designs

We have busy little beavers working on the splendid new Birthstone series of kits from none other than BooLand Designs. These kits are done in the colors that represent the birthstones of the months and some other colors that work wonderfully with the birthstone colors. They are in 2 different stores Stone Accent Studio and at Do It Digi and there is a freebie sampler for each kit on Boo's Blog. BTW... These are my Great Neices and my Grand daughter, taken while they were playing Fashion Model.

New year and new FREEBIES!!!

Here it is January 2008, and I am still moping around. Really do hate this time of year, all gloomy and the greens are pretty much gond, both the ones in Nature and the folding kind, too...LOL

I have been busy at the computer though, since it is too messy to do much else, and I made a couple of Color Challenge kits. One for DSO and one for Hummie'sWorld . While making kits is fun, I can tell you I really have no desire to make them to sell, even if I am good at it. It really is hard work and time consuming, so be sure to thank the folks that do make kits either for sale or as freebies, for all their hard work. I also want to thanks all the fine folks that make, share and sell, the items we can use to make elements. The fine Ladies that share at The Ephemeral Victorian makes some wonderful things for we freebie makes to use. Tina Williams Designs always has some great commercial use items as does the group at MooTwo Designs . I usually try to buy the grab bags when they have commericial bags on sale.

Oh what a past few days!

First I get chosen as a CT for BooLand Designs and for TemplatesnMore, and before I can even get my feet wet and learn the ropes for each of these nice ladies, I have to go AWOL from scrapping. Early last Saturday morning, I got a phone call from my Niece, telling me that my Step-Mother had passed away.

Though we had expected it, never can you be ready for it. She was only 69, which in only 7 years older than me. We raised our kids together, her two youngest and my oldest were only 1 year apart, so it was almost like having triplettes. What one didn't think of the other two would. So our relationship wasn't Mother and Daughter, more like sisters or girlfriends. So losing her was the last of the 'older' generation in my life and has been very hard.

Hopefully I'll get some new layouts made and will be posting them here for the world to see...LOL

Trish from Templates and More, really makes some beautiful templates and Boo from BooLand Designs has designed some really pretty kits (I'll be putting in links as soon as I get that figured out). Oh and I would love to show off my CT blinkies, but haven't gotten that figured out either, I have to stop blaming being old on why it is hard for me and just learn to do it....

November finishes with a BANG!

What a way for month to finish!

Hubby had a heart attack, but with a new stent he is doing wonderful, feeling great. Doctor said he had very little damage to his heart and that is WONDERFUL! Wasn't given very many restrictions, but we are monitoring his vitals and blood sugar, just to be on the safe side.

Had to put our 16 year old cat to sleep, due to her failing health, and boy was that horrible. Would love to get a new kitten, but with other cat being so skittish and the dog wanting to chase cats, I just do not think it would work. Oh and the BOY would probably terrify the kitten, since he is at the wrong age to know how to be gentle with much of anything.

I have some new layouts completed and as soon as I have them online, I'll try to figure out how to get them posted here also. Having a blast doing my CT duties over at DXD, have really had some great kits to work with. I need to pick a new kit to work on at SSD but I hear that the December Mega kit is due out soon, so want to make sure I have plenty of time to create using it. I have been busy working on the challenges at DSO, if you haven't checked them out you really need to, there are some really interesting ones this month. I even created a small kit for the Color Challenge.

Blue Monday....NOT really

Last week was very busy, the Grandson turned 1 on Wednesday and we had his party here on Saturday. Of course we got some really cute pictures of him and I even made a short video.

Been busy making LOs for SSD and DXD, need to pick a new kit from Tina William's Designs so I can work some more on my Family Heritage Album. I have used her kits for the rest of the album so think I'll stick with that. I have certainly enjoyed being a CT for her, such nice kits, but the designers at SSD and DXD have some nice things also.

As soon as I get this Blog thing all figured out I'll start posting my CT LOs here also, but you know how it is for us 'oldies but goodies' learning new things is sometimes a little slowwwww.

As I surf around looking/reading blogs I run across some interesting things. Today it was on Kritine's Blog that really made me upset. She had been nice to someone and got the gift thrown back in her face along with some insults. It has really done my heart good to see so many folks taking a stand for Kristine, Dork-Dancer, that she is. She is so much fun and shares so much with the Scrapping Community, it really hurt to see her so hurt and upset.

Back in the olden days, people were taught manners, both at home and at school, and if you didn't like what you were given you still said thank you, and took it with grace. Man, have things really changed that much? I know we have all gotten gifts we didn't like but I'll bet the majority of people take them and say thank you, not get rude and toss them back into the givers face.

Oh well better get off the soapbox. Not going to say it is not my problem, because it is all of our problem. If people are rude to the designers, the quality freebies will dry up and many of our community are on very limited budgets and need the freebies, so just be nice and say thank you.
